LOS ANGELES — The producers of the What Would BLANK Do? podcast think they’ve found the perfect host — if they can get around a few legal difficulties.
Donovan Langeweiss said the podcast has been delayed several times while deals with previous hosts have fallen through, but they think they’ve found a winner with Groucho Marx.
“The man can think on his feet — you know what I mean. All the edge is back. We’ve got several segments in the can but now we’ve got a major licensing problem.” Langeweiss said.
Although Groucho Marx has a certified identity on the AfterNet, his estate is now allowing his name or likeness to be used in connection with th podcast.
“Groucho has kindly offered to not take any money. I think he just wants back in the harness. But it does prevent us from making any money on this. We can’t even post Google ads,” Langeweiss said.
Attorney’s from Marx‘s estate could not be reached for comment. Marx’s only comment was, “I would say that I’m dying to get back to work, but that would be lying.”
