Dr. Antonia Simone is the discoverer of the afterlife. The events leading to that discovery are covered in the Timeline FAQ.

Dr. Simone was born in Brazil to Emile and Bertil Simone. The Simones had moved to Brazil to escape the Nazi oppression of Europe. Although Jewish, her father had been a member of the National Socialist Party until a falling out with Heinrich Himmler over genetic experiments Simone had been conducting on Aryan children.

Simone moved to Brazil with his wife, his mother Sylvia and Antonia’s older brother, Ricardo. After the war, he moved high in Brazilian military circles while maintaining his contacts with leading scientific researchers in the U.S. and Europe.

His daughter, Antonia, didn’t follow in her father’s footsteps, turning instead to the nascent science of computing. Although young, she was already corresponding with several contemporaries in the field, including Alan Turing. Like Turing, she went to Newnham College at Cambridge University.

Growing up in what amounted to an armed compound, her only companion was her older brother, whom she adored. His passsion was the martial at of aikido, which she also adopted.

Dr. Simone’s career slowed after her return to Brazil, with some speculation that the controversy over Turing’s homosexuality and his subsequent suicide propelled that return.

Dr. Simone also often traveled to the United States, where she met Dr. Edward Teller of Lawrence Livermore Laboratory.

Although Dr. Simone never married, she remained a close friend of the artist Andy Warhol.
